Runaway train on the Northern Line

Last Friday morning (13th August 2010), waiting at Archway station for a tube train to come along, I was having a great time with the anticipation rising for my weekend away to Paris. However, we were delayed whilst waiting on the train coming along.

Eventually it did and we got on. Then it didn’t stop at Tufnell Park. ”Weird,” I thought. Then it picked up pace and went straight through Kentish Town. “Uh no” I thought. Then the driver came on the tannoy shouting that we all had to move to the front carriage of the train. It was an emergency and everyone on board knew it.

Everyone made there way to the front and there were a lot of scared faces. Mine was too, as we had no idea what was happening. It was only once we had sped through all stations until Moorgate did the driver inform us that there had been a runaway engineering train behind us. Not a good start to the weekend. Now they are carrying out an enquiry. Good.

Nevertheless, Paris was amazing. I could easily move there.

Business Development Man or Carlito Imposter In New York

I recently went on a long weekend to New York City and here is a picture of me on the escalator in Grand Central Station. I am attempting to copy a scene from Carlito’s Way, where Al Pacino was being chased by some Mafioso. Thankfully I wasn’t, and neither was I double-crossed by me old mate at the tracks just after, so I made it home alive.
The picture may not look like much, but trust me, it was exciting for me at the time.

Pick those Oranges

So here I am in Limone at Lake Garda trying to steal an Orange from a tree. It really is a wonderful place to visit – check out my flickr stream to see them all.

It is a very quiet place with lots to do if you fancy a bit of sight-seeing. Not too much nightlife although you can drink as many cocktails and Italian beers as you wish along the promenade. I also managed to get to see Brescia’s football stadium and pay homage to Bobby Baggio, as they were the last club he played for. Plus my hero and fellow left footed wizard, Diego Armando Maradona would have played there too! It was surprisingly easy to get inside the stadium and onto the pitch too.

Other delights were going up in a cable car that took us up 1800ft in about 10 minutes which was very impressive and very scary. I am now addicted to having olive oil with every meal (along with wine) and feel the need to go back there at some point to do more exploring and pinching lemons, oranges and olives straight of the branches.
