Graeme Davidson on digital agency Equator

I am Graeme Davidson – the business development manager for a digital agency based in Glasgow called Equator.

We’ve worked with loads of great companies since we started out in 1999, developing and implementing their digital strategies for maximum return on investment.

In hard financial times like these you are probably worried about a lot of things; your job security, how vulnerable your company is, how should you be spending your budget and many more. One thing less for you to worry about is your online marketing spend and ROI. That is where we can help. Equator can provide you with protection, security and stability by formulating a fantastic strategic marketing plan to continue your company’s growth – therefore ensuring you will be rewarded for choosing the best provider for a long-lasting and prosperous relationship.

Human beings – me, you, your customers – connect better when your online message is conveyed correctly. If you want your customers to engage with you online, you have to grab their attention in an innovative and exciting way. Our experience and expertise has helped clients like Scottish & Southern Energy and Elegant Resorts to increase their conversion rates and overall reach with a powerful digital strategy which we helped them craft.

How does your digital strategy compare?

UK Online Marketing Spend Up!

The latest figures from the IAB (UK) in association with PwC and the World Advertising Research Centre (WARC) indicate that online advertising is up significantly in the UK despite the economic downturn.

Headline figures are as follows:
Online Advertising Spend in the first half of 2008 – £1.68 Billion
Online Sales in the first half of 2007 – £1.33 Billion

UK Online Advertising

That’s an increase in online advertising spend of 21% for the first half of the year, when compared to H1 2007. Despite a slow down in the rate of growth (growth of 41.3% was reported for H1 2007 when compared to H1 2006) the market share of online advertising is growing. Online Advertising now accounts for 18.7% of the total advertising spend of £8.98 Billion. Up from a market share of 14.7% in the first half of 2007.

The interesting fact is that the overall advertising is down by 0.7% year on year for the first half of 2008 with TV, press, outdoor and radio all experiencing falls. Thus online is the clearly in favour with UK marketeers and is rapidly closing the gap on press (with a marketshare of 19.3%) and TV (with a market share of 21.7%).
