Sounds for Today - Tenously Linked Compilation Tape

When I was a kid - dim and distant past I know - but compilation tapes were all the rage. Easy way to see if you were going to get on well with someone was to get them to make you a ‘tape’, or vice versa. Tenously Linked Cassette

Making a tape was an art form. It involved skill, dexterity, a lot of use of the pause button and a record collection wide enough to reflect the ebb and fall of where the tape was going (am gonna start just quoting the high fidelity in a moment if I keep this up).

My favourite compilation tape was the one marked ‘tenuously linked’ which trawled through a mates record collection.

High points included a three song section :

  • Holiday in Cambodia - The Dead Kennedys
  • Girl at the Bus Stop - BMX Bandits
  • Confide in Me - Kylie Minogue

If you get the tenuous link between these three tracks place it in the comments below.
