10 reasons to get out of bed
I thought I would put together a wee list of things that make people happy to get out of bed in the morning and please try to add to the list to see if there is anything I have missed from it.
I hope you all get creative and come up with much nicer ideas than the ones I have put forward. Here goes:
1. You may meet the person that you fall in love with for the rest of your life.
This does also fall under the category of seeing the love of your life as soon as you wake up (no jokes here), or possibly even pulling the greatest one-night-stand for those nymphomaniacs out there.
2. You simply have to go to the toilet.
No-brainer really. I don’t know if this would put you in a good mood, but it is definitely an essential part of getting up in the morning.
3. You get to have the most important meal of the day - breakfast!
Wow! What a treat breakfast can be. So many options from cereals to fruit to smoothies to toast to 8 cups of coffee and 4 cigs. It really does help the day along.
4. There is an important event that day.
There’s nothing quite like having something exciting to do on a day to help alleviate those early morning blues. Perhaps you are meeting an old friend, or going on holiday, or the footie is kicking off, or an interesting meeting to attend. The list goes on…
5. Enjoy your work.
If you don’t enjoy your work, then make an effort to. And if you still don’t then get out of it. Work takes up large chunks of our days and if we don’t like what we do then what is the point. Years (and years and years) ago, I used to work as a security guard on 12 hour night shift. It was tough going, but I made the most of it by having a laugh with all the contractors on the site and therefore look fondly back on the time spent at the security guard boot camp.
6. It may be your last day.
Okay, a bit morbid, but should we not be living each day like this anyway. Live life to the full (or the fool, if you prefer). Therefore we should be trying to squeeze everything possible into that day. You have no idea how much better this can make a full 24 hours!
7. Bed sores.
Ouch! Time to get up and get some air about your nether region.
8. The sun is shining.
You checked the news last night and it told you that the sun is going to have his hat on and he’s coming out to play. Make the most of it, but remember to get your sun block on, in the interest of safety from those pesky UV rays.
9. Make money.
This could be the day that you seal that deal that guarantees your bonus, or give you a profit margin that would have Bill Gates in tears. Then you can afford to buy those tickets to the Bahamas for two weeks and for the next 120 mornings getting up will be no problem as you think about how good that soft, white sand and the palm trees will look when the sun is setting as you sit next to your beloved.
10. Going to bed.
There is nothing better than going to bed, so what better reason to get out your bed than to really savour the time that you do eventually get back into it again. Even if it’s not for sleeping…. The analogy here is wearing your jacket indoors, and someone says to you, “Take that off or you won’t get the benefit!” I concur.
So there you go. These are my reasons for getting out of bed in the morning. And the thing is, if you get up earlier in the morning you get a better opportunity to do all these things and more. Please add your additional reasons too!

you have bed sores? hehe, just kidding. another reason for getting up would be to have some coffee.
not getting up makes you lazy, and laziness breeds laziness.
