Equator Goes Global!

We are going global with the launch of offices in New York and Kiev.

Equator has opened a studio in Manhattan where we are planning to have 15 staff offering a full range of digital marketing services by the end of 2013. Aggressive expansion plans will take it to around 70 by 2016.

We are also in the process of opening a web development base in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev, where we will employ a team of seven.

Equator currently employs almost 100 staff at our Glasgow headquarters, working with a number of global brands including Disney, AXA Insurance, Micron and Wyndham.

Managing director, John McLeish, said: “The UK business has been growing at a considerable rate in recent years and we service a number of major global brands from our studio in Glasgow. International expansion was therefore the next logical step in our expansion.

“New York was an ideal fit for us as there is a similar cultural attitude towards digital and it is obviously home to many of the world’s best known brands. And while the US is leading the way in terms of technology, the digital industry over there is less advanced when it comes to design and marketing which creates enormous opportunities for Equator.

“New York will not just be a satellite office, but a stand-alone agency with a team of digital marketing professionals experienced in the US market. The Equator board will oversee things and we will put in place the systems and processes that have driven our success in the UK, but the US team will have the autonomy to make its own stamp.”

John added: “The base in Kiev will support our UK web development team. We chose the Ukraine, not for cost reasons, but because of the abundance of web development talent there. We investigated opportunities both in the UK and across Europe but the expertise we found in Kiev was unparalleled.

“This is a very exciting time for Equator. After 14 years in Glasgow, we are hugely excited about becoming a truly global agency and the infinite opportunities that will create.”
