The Hydro Arena Glasgow – Taking Shape

I took a wander this lunchtime across to the site of the under-construction arena ‘The Hydro‘ (sponsored by Scottish Hydro) in Glasgow (5 minutes from the office where i work) and took a few pictures.

Although there is obviously a long way to go, the arena is already beginning to take shape – and the scale of it is very impressive. At the moment they are putting the roofcap in place.

The 12,000 seat arena is set to open in 2013 and is expected to become one of the busiest entertainment venues in the world. Great for Glasgow as there has been a gap for this size of venue in the city – and many bands will tell you Glasgow is one of the best cities to play a gig.

Italy Pictures: May 2009

Well, where to begin – i haven’t been around these parts for a long time. Anyway, i thought id ease myself gently back into things with some pictures taken on my recent trip to Northern Italy. We stayed in a medieval village called Barga which has many historical links with Scotland. It was great – being without television, mobile phone reception and internet for a week was rather refreshing.

All photos were taken on my trusty (but fairly poor) Nokia 6500 mobile:

Id recommend this trip to anyone (Ryanair fly from Prestwick to Pisa – Barga is about 1 and a half hours in the car) – just be prepared for some psychopathic driving and you’ll be fine……….
